The Wilding - Noongar-English

This evocative retelling by two highly respected Noongar performing artists, Dr Lynette Narkle and Melodie Reynolds-Diarra in response to the original tale of The Wilding, explores indigenous women's power as collective healers weaving ancient women's wisdom; sisters standing strong together in the face of a domineering and threatening male, refusing to accept the inter-generational story of acceptance of domestic violence and rising together instead to enact their call of "no more".

Magic realism gives The Wilding the edge of ancient tale retold - originally woven from threads of ideas about women 'today', gathered at a large gathering at International Women's Day 2017 in Wooditjup (Margaret River) in Western Australia.
The third voice throughout the Noongar-English version is 'boodja', heard through the evocative bush soundscape, reflecting the reciprocal nature of indigenous custodianship with 'mother country'.

Here is reconnection with feminine power, drawn from pure connection - listening to country; and the rising strength of women's story returning to the call.

Created and evolved on the lands of the Wadandi indigenous custodians, with the greatest respect for their elders past, present and future.
